In early March 2026, the Vietnam Green Building Academy (VGBA), in collaboration with Newtecons, successfully delivered the “LEED for Contractors” training program for key personnel and companies within the Newtecons ecosystem.
The training program was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the LEED green building certification system, while also updating participants on the latest developments in LEED v5 — the upcoming version aimed at addressing global climate goals and sustainable development targets. In addition, the course clarified the role of contractors in delivering projects that pursue LEED certification.
Tailored Training Program for Enterprises
The program was specifically developed by VGBA to meet the needs of Newtecons, with the aim of enhancing LEED knowledge for personnel directly involved in project implementation.
It was structured to align with the operational characteristics of a construction enterprise, focusing on aspects of LEED that are directly relevant to contractors. Participants came from various departments, including project management, engineering, design, and other roles involved in construction and project coordination.
This approach ensured that the program not only provided foundational knowledge of the LEED system but also created opportunities for participants to exchange practical insights based on real project experiences.
The course was delivered by a team of instructors including USGBC Faculty members, along with professionals holding LEED AP and LEED GA credentials, who have extensive experience in both training and the implementation of green building projects in Vietnam.
Integrated Approach: Theory and Practice
The program consisted of four training sessions, focusing on LEED requirements that are directly relevant to the construction phase. The content emphasized technical requirements in relation to contractors’ responsibilities, helping participants understand how LEED criteria are applied in practice.
In addition, the course incorporated discussions and analysis of real project scenarios, enabling participants to better understand how to implement LEED requirements during construction and project delivery.
Strengthening Capacity for Green Building Implementation
The “LEED for Contractors” training program contributed to enhancing participants’ understanding of green building standards and strengthening their capacity to deliver projects that meet increasing sustainability requirements in the market.
Through specialized training programs, VGBA continues to support enterprises in developing a workforce equipped with the knowledge and skills required to implement green building projects, thereby contributing to the advancement of sustainable construction practices in Vietnam.
Enterprises seeking to organize tailored training programs on green building or LEED certification for their teams may consider customized training solutions aligned with their specific needs and development strategies.
