In green buildings in general and projects pursuing LEED certification in particular, LCA plays an extremely important role. For manufacturers, LCA is the basis for establishing an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), helping to confirm transparency and assess the product’s impact on the environment in accordance with the international standards. For parties directly implementing green building projects, assessing LCA for the entire building (Whole Building LCA) for the early stages of the project not only helps score a number of green building criteria, but also helps the project team compare different alternatives to choose the one that is both beneficial to the environment, saves operating costs and avoids waste due to making many changes.
