International Built Environment Week (IBEW) – The most anticipated annual built environment event in Asia Pacific will return on September 5-9, 2022, at the Convention Center Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, with a series of events during the week with about 10,000 guests attending. This year, under the auspices of the Vietnam Association of Architects, Architecture Magazine – Vietnam Association of Architects continues to act as a media sponsor in Vietnam and will organize a delegation to attend the Week with many useful extension activities.
International Built Environment Week (IBEW) (formerly Singapore Green Building Week SGBW) was developed by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA) with the advice and support of professional associations and experts from 50 countries around the world. Considered the most comprehensive event on the built environment in Asia Pacific, the Week is the ideal platform for the global community to gather and share knowledge, exchange experiences and explore business opportunities. Over the years, the event has also made a positive contribution to the socio-economic development and greatly contributed to driving the industry towards sustainability and increasing the performance of Singapore.
Starting to accompany Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) and International Built Environment Week (IBEW) from 2017 to now, Architecture Magazine has established 2 delegations to attend events in 2018 and 2019 together with many other useful sightseeing activities, and become an activity that many Vietnamese architects care about and expect every year. This year, IBEW 2022 will have the following outstanding operational information:

This year, Program activities include:
1. IBEC Conference:
The IBEC conference is organized by BCA International Pte Ltd – A wholly owned subsidiary of Building & Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA) and professional trade show organizer RX Singapore. With the theme “Accelerating Transformation, Growing Together“, the conference aims to become a driving platform for an industry that is undergoing a lot of change, transformation, while enhancing a collaborative approach across the entire value chain in the Built Environment.
The conference will last for three days, from September 6 to September 8, with 3 topics corresponding to each day.

The first day – September 6, started with the theme “Sustainability & Green Economy”. H.E. Mr Desmond Lee – Minister of National Development – Guest of Honor of the Opening Ceremony, will talk about the future of the built environment. At the same time, there will be a presentation by the world-renowned architect – Mr Moshe Safdie, with a panel discussion titled “The power of design in shaping a friendly, climate-friendly built environment”.

The 2nd day – September 7, will continue with the focus on “Technology and Innovation”, and the delegates can hear both leaders of future technology share about innovative thinking and learn about the application of the technology of the future. Practical application of technologies in Design Manufacturing & Assembly (DfMA), Robotics and Digitalisation.

On the 3rd day – September 8, the conference closed with the theme “Leadership & Future Growth”. The conference’s final day’s content will tie together the previous day’s range by focusing on leadership in the Built Environment value chain while seeking to increase collaboration and synergy for future conversions.
The IBEW 2022 conference will feature 52 hours of lessons from more than 60 speakers from around the world. As a Fee-for-Participation Conference, the Organizer will provide delegates with the option of attending in person or accessing it online via a digital platform.
2. Field visit (site tour) including 08 typical green and energy efficient buildings, achieved Green Mark certificate in Singapore organized by BCA
In order to facilitate direct access for attendees, IBEW organizes a site tour prior to the September 5 conference. Delegates can choose to visit any of the projects in the program. No. 08 projects are on the list given in this event. The tour will be guided, allowing delegates to witness first-hand the implementation of the new technology and the opportunity to ask questions directly from the people involved in the design and construction of the project. Some outstanding projects such as DBS Newton Green building – a 30-year-old building that has undergone major repairs to turn it into an energy-balanced building or Avenue South Residences – the world’s tallest PPVC project.

3. BEX Asia Technology Exhibition
Taking place concurrently with the IBEW Conference, the 14th BEX Asia Technology Expo will be the leading smart marketplace platform for built environment professionals looking for the latest technology products and solutions. The exhibition will be displayed in Halls A-C of Marina Bay Sands Convention Center during the duration of activities within the framework of the week. Trade show delegates can tour nearly 200 brands and solutions from more than 20 countries. The exhibition will feature a wide range of solutions for the built environment including HVAC, robotic systems, building materials, energy management, IoT sensors and digitalisation. In particular, digital solutions is one of the prominent focuses in BEX Asia 2022. Some of the top brands that attendees can meet include Hitachi, Daikin, Schindler Lifts, Nippon Paint, Procore, Autodesk , Cupix, Wavin Singapore, Technoform and CSC Robotics.
4. Actual activities (private activities) of the Vietnamese delegation to IBEW Week 2022
During this week’s visit, in addition to activities within the framework of the event, Architecture Magazine will organize a practical activity – Visiting the National Gallery Singapore designed by Studio Milou Singapore in collaboration with CPG Consultants Pte Ltd. An icon of the 21st century, National Gallery Singapore elegantly integrates the historic buildings that formerly housed the Supreme Court and City Hall to become the newest and largest museum of contemporary art in Singapore. and Southeast Asia. Also, on this field trip, the participants will hear from the design unit – Studio Milou Singapore about contemporary architecture for old buildings and how to rejuvenate them, maintaining a great balance between heritage and modernity.

Detailed schedule of International Built Environment Week (IBEW) 2022
With the desire to create connection for Vietnamese architects, for 3 consecutive years, from 2017 to 2019, with the consent of the Vietnam Association of Architects, Architecture Magazine (AM) has cooperated with RELX (Singapore) Co., Ltd. ) to sponsor media and support the organization of events in response to Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) 2017, 2018 and International Built Environment Week (IBEW) 2019, establishing a delegation attended these events in Singapore in 2018 and 2019.
AM also connected and organized meetings with design consultancy, technology and material supply units in Singapore and visiting green buildings in Singapore to give Vietnamese delegates the opportunity to communicate with each other and learn from practice. Specifically: In 2018 held a meeting with the office of WOHA Architects – the leading design consulting unit in Singapore through impressive green buildings and high awards, in 2019 attended the seminar, visited the glass showroom. AGC energy; visit the net-zero energy building at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
IBEW 2022 will return to the live and online organization with the theme of “Promoting transformation, accompanying development“, promising to bring opportunities to inspire and connect with leaders and experts in the Construction industry.
In order to maximize the support for Vietnamese delegates when attending, Architecture Magazine negotiated with the program organizers (BCA & RX Singapore) to have preferential packages with special support. The fees payable to the BTC program in Singapore are already lower than the published fees and are supported with additional privileges. The participation fees will not include personal expenses (self-pay) to attend (travel, meals, accommodation, …) of the delegates. AM supported finding sufficient information to share with delegates when attending.
