On the morning of May 9, 2026, the online workshop held within the framework of the “Energy Simulation Towards Net-Zero Buildings” competition successfully took place with the participation of lecturers and students from universities across Vietnam. The workshop opened up diverse perspectives for students to develop innovative and breakthrough design solutions towards Net-Zero Buildings.
The competition is proudly supported by organizations operating in the fields of Green Buildings, Energy Efficiency, and Sustainable Development, including:
- VILANDCO – A Green Building and Energy Efficiency consultancy, serving as the Head Organizer.
- VGBA – Vietnam Green Building Academy, serving as the Head Organizer.
- VGBC – Vietnam Green Building Council, serving as the Co-Organizer.
- IES – A UK-based developer of building performance analysis and energy simulation software, serving as the Technical Partner and Software Sponsor.
- GT:HUB – A platform supporting businesses in implementing ESG solutions, serving as the Media & Community Partner.
Insightful presentations from both international and local experts delivered valuable practical knowledge to participants:
- Tran Minh Ngoc – Technical Expert and Representative of Vietnam Green Building Council, highlighted how the LOTUS NC V4 rating system focuses on critical categories such as water efficiency, circular materials, and simulation requirements to achieve certification points under LOTUS NC V4.
- Prasad Deosarkar – Business Development Manager at Integrated Environmental Solutions, emphasized the role of energy simulation technology in ensuring buildings remain truly sustainable throughout their lifecycle, particularly during the operational phase.
- Nguyen Trung Kien – Green Building Expert and Director of VILANDCO & Vietnam Green Building Academy, provided in-depth technical insights into the application of Building Performance Modeling (BPM) to achieve Net-Zero goals. He also emphasized the importance of early-stage simulation during conceptual design to optimize building massing, orientation, and window-to-wall ratio.
In addition to the expert presentations, participants also had the opportunity to receive information and have their questions regarding the competition answered by Ly Thuy Huong – Representative of the Organizing Committee.
More than just a learning platform, the workshop reaffirmed VILANDCO’s commitment to promoting green transformation and strengthening the connection between academia, businesses, and the community to build a more sustainable future for Vietnam.
We would like to sincerely thank all speakers, lecturers, and students for contributing to the success of the event. We look forward to seeing you again at upcoming activities and events.
